Taking an Impression

Carefully read all step instructions prior to starting. It is not recommended to use this impression technique if you have extremely loose teeth or loose dental restorations.

Step 1 : Organize your Materials

Separate the putty into thirds from both plastic tubs as seen in the picture to the right.

Step 2: Mixing the Putty

(This step should take no longer than 1 minute)

•  Mix the two colors of impression material together rapidly. Knead and roll the colors together, until fully blended into one color. There should be no white streaks at all. (Total mixing time should be about 45 seconds) The material will start to set up in about 1 minute.

Step 3: Loading the Tray

•  Roll the mixture between your hands into a uniform strand. Evenly push the material into all portions of the tray as shown below.

Step 4: Taking the Mold

(This step takes roughly 4 minutes, and should be done in front of a mirror)

•  Take the tray filled with impression material and place over your lower teeth. Push down all the way with firm pressure, until the tray forms around your teeth and the material extrudes through the holes in the tray. A deep impression is important for best results.

•  Once seated, do not move the tray until the putty sets (about 4 minutes until set)

Step 5: Examining the Mold

•  After 4 mintues remove the tray and examine the mold. The impression should show accurate details of your teeth it is critical that the front six teeth and the gum line below them are seen clearly, the fit of your tray will depend on how accurate the impressions are .

•  Leave the impression material in the tray unless you need to redo the impression (there will be extra impression material left over for that) repeat steps 1-3 for the upper teeth.

•  Place both molds in the provided pre-paid white envelope and mail back them back immediately . Once we receive the impressions, we will make your custom whitening trays and return them promptly.
